tartelets latest comes from glenn astro. currently residing in essen, he has spent a bit more than half his life djing and producing, first in the realm of hip-hop and more recently with an ear toward dance music. after his first releases in this style in 2011 and 2012, glenn really went for it in 2013 with a trio of eps that showed hip-hops soul and house musics drive are in no way mutually exclusive. this 26-year-old may embrace the latter these days, but when you close your eyes and let his gritty low-end do its dirty work, you will hear plenty of the formers bump still kicking around in there.

uffe delivers a 5 track ep including two remixes that set the standard for a promising career. his debut ep on pets recordings 2012 created quite a bit of hype and the track when the sun rose appeared in various high profile dj charts...

limited to 250 copies, next up in tartelet’s limited-edition series is renaissance man n.o.t.e. with “night frames” – a compilation of barrel-aged sounds for the warm nights ahead. n.o.t.e. is a new project by an already established artist who might be of swiss or italian origin, depending on who’s asking. a seasoned sailor of musical waters, he enjoys jazz piano, fine wine and silk linens. though none of that matters. the first release under his new name could be described as a mini concept album where different routes are explored, bringing n.o.t.e.’s musical diversity and capabilities to light. starting with “falsa laudis,” n.o.t.e. takes the listener back to the 80s with clear references to italian boogie and jazz-funk of that era. the track is warm, fat and sparkly, and best enjoyed with a cocktail in hand. following this is the title track “night frames” – a bruk-jazz escapade not shy of elaborate rhodes solos and filthy funk. the b-side opener moves further south: “obaleyako” is fueled by tropical energy, mixing african percussions with soft piano chords. it’s weird, mysterious and red hot! last but not least, n.o.t.e takes on the finest deep house sound with “en route,” where endless layered melodies and percussion form the farewell. this is an ultra limited-edition release of 250 copies (strictly no repress!), written and produced by n.o.t.e. and mixed at panalama studios in copenhagen on the neve 5088 shelford console for good measure. enjoy!

b from e (frej garcia levin) represents a new generation of talented young artists making waves in copenhagen. of mexican-danish descent, and born and raised in the notorious tower blocks of the south-western suburbs of copenhagen, the 27-year old is on the up-and-up. in high demand as the founder of boom bap rap group natkat, producer of pop outfit ny sensei (new sensei) and head of tape-only label buddahood, the multi-talent seems to have a hand in everything at the moment. his 2017 debut porno tr-xxx (c.u.p) saw some of the hottest names in the game spinning b from e at last year s dekmantel festival, resulting in offers from several well-known record labels.

his new record on tartelet records comes as four cuts exploring different paths of the garage house sound. the opener dark energy is fueled by filthy breaks and a nostalgic theme that would not be out of place in an early atari computer game. the people (dream mix) is a trippy tour through subtle layered melodies, carried by a stripped-back groove.

copenhagen s tartelet is returning to their roots with a dancefloor-focused ep, pizza trance, from dirk 81—a.k.a label head emil m. nyholm. having previously dropped a slew of tracks as muff deep and ctepeo 57 (with max graef), the dj and producer is blessing the universe with three cuts of dancefloor heaven under a new moniker lifted from his days tagging concrete walls in the 90s. influences draw everywhere from disco, to african hi-life, dub, underworld, a few old trance records, and timeless house music.

recorded over a year in berlin and copenhagen, the record kicks off with -m.f.c-, a disco-afro-house hybrid oozing with roland jupiter 6 keys and some funky drums processed on old equipment from the former ussr. the b-side spreads things deep and delicious with -pizza trance (main mix),- a euphoric serving of sounds that substitutes pepperonis and pineapples for glittering sequencers and a bangin bass drum.

the ep s closer tastes like a bit of both, mixing up some more acid sounds into the recipe for a retro-sounding house track. it s another tasty delight from the label that will fulfil any and all late-night cravings, especially if you fiend for neapolitan pizza.. leave room for seconds.

after a five-year hiatus, tartelet mainstay james braun returns with the ep tearjerker, announcing his debut album for 2018. jb (james braun) has been part of the label since its conception in 2007 and has contributed immensely to its development. over the years, his sound has continuously morphed – from cheeky tech house, to emotional detroit-inspired house escapades – always reflecting his originality and worthy musicianship. the tearjerker ep is a testament to jb s musical journey. rooted in classic u.s. house and techno, the ep delivers elaborate melodies not found in earlier productions. the tracks were all produced at the newly opened panalama studio in copenhagen, which jb runs alongside lasse walentin.

this one is for collectors and fans of obscurities, strictly limited to 300. no repress! neapolitan native modula (firecracker recordings, periodica records) debuts on tartelet with a conceptual ep. alba ¹ tempesta ¹ notturno is a sound montage created with a selection of field recordings from the jungles of south america. the a-side consist of two cuts, pura natura the original field recording, followed by natura sintetica ¹ a reconstruction of the original montage using only electronic audio synthesis to reinvent the sounds of nature. the b-side holds three tracks mixed into one: a cinematic synth-funk tune that reminds of an 80s wildlife documentary. running over twelve minutes, a musical journey is the perfect soundtrack to your amazonian expedition.

uffe is back with a two tracker that will set your pants on fire. the a side is a fresh take on pharaoh sanders 1974 cult classic love is everywhere an eleven-minute journey through broken piano melodies, layered vocals, partytime cowbell rhythms and heavy sub. the b side rytme version unfolds over eight minutes and is a dubbed out instrumental bomb of claps, hypnotic cowbells and added synth chords further building the suspense. peak time alert!

kickflip mike (joschka seibt) is back with ‘three turtles’ - a collaborative ep on tartelet records with berlin bass maestro julius conrad. while julius seems like a new addition to camp tartelet, he’s been in the extended family for years. the son of jazz bass legend jürgen attig and childhood homies with max graef & kickflip, he’s existed in the crew’s inner circle since day dot.

hot on the heels of his very well received ep on money $ex records, herr seidel returns with another nifty 4 tracker for copenhagen s finest, tartelet. loose, swinging sample-house rubs shoulders with an irresistible syncopated funk workout, and a pacey peak-time roller. seidel does it again !
